WHAT IS CORE?

CORE is
Chatham Organizing for Racial Equity

CORE is a multi-racial group of Chatham residents who believe racism hurts us all. We stand as allies to minority, marginalized, and oppressed populations.

CORE works to build awareness of personal, cultural, and systemic racism through hosting a series of two-day Racial Equity Institute workshops.

REI workshops provide historical perspective on institutional racism and a thorough understanding of its ongoing effects.
REI workshops inspire transformative action for a more equitable
Chatham County.

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?

Proactively Address Racism

This is a two-day long process – that helps to provide talking points, historical factors and an organizational definition of racism. REI believes that organizations are often working in very intentionally civil ways yet operating from multiple understandings that rely more on personal feelings and popular opinion. This creates complications to the goal of eliminating racial and ethnic disparities and producing equitable outcomes.
